Q: Am I too old to learn guitar?
A: Absolutely not! It's never too late to learn something new. Learning guitar can be incredibly rewarding, and it's a great way to express yourself and have fun.
Our in-person guitar lessons have gotten hundreds of adult students of all ages started, so don't let your age stop you from pursuing this hobby!
It only takes 4 to 8 weeks to become a competent guitar player able to really rock out, have fun, and truly play the music you love at a satisfactory level, so age really shouldn't stop anyone!
Q: Should I start learning an acoustic guitar first or electric?
A: It all depends on which one you prefer!
If you're a fan of the acoustic sound and listen to such music, then you'd probably want to go for the acoustic guitar.
You may find it easier to play the electric guitar at first, but the acoustic one is better for training your fingers. Electric guitars may be more expensive than the acoustic ones at the beginner level, but professional level guitars all cost about the same.
Q: What's the first thing I should learn on the guitar?
A: The first important thing is to know how to hold the guitar correctly and how to play separate notes on the strings. If you know how to play single notes, you'll be able to move on to chords and more exciting bits.
Q: Is it possible to learn the guitar online?
A: Yes and no. There's plenty of material online, and even some lessons that will help you get started and give you a very rough idea of what it's like. However, it's often inconsistent, not targeted to your specific needs, difficult to follow, and unmotivating.
Having a teacher who knows what you need and who's there to inspire, teach, and rock with you will help you become the guitarist you've dreamed to be!
Q: I'm not very creative and don't have any musical talent...
A: This excuse won't work with us! :)
Learning the guitar and enjoying music has nothing to do with how "creative" or "not creative" one is. If you're interested, then you can and will do it!
Q: How long until I can play the guitar well?
A: It's a bit of a philosophical question because it depends on your final goal. You'll only need a month to play your favourite songs and impress your friends at the campfire.
But if you set a challenge for yourself to play like your biggest idol or perfect your finger technique, you may find yourself practising longer.
Whatever your goal, the most important thing should be the joy of music and your growing confidence!
